Come and See: An Invitation to Reclaim Your Life's Balance
An invitation to balance, wholeness, and peace. An invitation to lose the guilt, the perfectionism, the restlessness. An invitation to come and see.
This is a book for women whose pursuit of “balance” in life has been disappointing, at best. Maybe you’ve tried self-help books, podcasts, prayer, meditation—maybe drugs, overwork, or unhealthy relationships too. Yet nothing seems to help the sense that something is missing in your life. Keeping your feelings of weariness, guilt, and anxiety at bay is exhausting.
Come and See offers you a surprising antidote to your emotional vertigo. Through real-life stories and brief reflections, Come and See explores:
- What to do with regrets, addictions, and pain from your past.
- What do the experiences of real women tell us about finding peace today?
- How to find healing from emotional and spiritual disillusionment.
- The power of forgiveness—for yourself and others.
Come and See invites you to consider a solution that requires no striving and has nothing to do with performance. All you have to lose is the pain you carry. Are you ready? Come and see.
Doing HIS Time: Meditations and Prayers for Men and Women in Prison
James Vogelzang spent 36 years in prison, but never spent a day behind bars!
In prison to selfishness and the world, he underwent a spiritual transformation at age 36, after reading Chuck Colson’s autobiography, Born Again. James felt God’s call to go into prisons and share the loving grace of Jesus Christ in the form of a devotional that delivers the message in an inmate’s language and situation. This daily devotional brings the Gospel of Jesus Christ to women and men in prison using their slang, culture, and circumstances in a way that makes the message come alive for the inmate reader.
From 1999 to 2008, the author researched prison life and lingo to better understand what it was like to be incarcerated. Then, taking this knowledge, he and co-author/editor Lynn Vanderzalm wrote Doing HIS Time to share the Good News in an inmate’s native tongue. In 2014 and 2020, the authors updated the book, adding new meditations and study guides to help inmates, prison ministers, and chaplains get the most out of Doing HIS Time.
This is a powerful and insightful book that is a must-have for anyone involved in the criminal justice system, as it speaks God's love in a way that everyone involved will understand.
